How our prayer can be heard?
Is Jesus Christ our way of
salvation?
Is there a promise that sins can be
forgiven?

REV. KAREN MAÑALAC
Here is a woman of God who can attest that neither your physical age nor your
years of being a Christian will be the basis of how mightily God can use you for
His glory. Be it your childhood years, your prime or even later years, if you
have an open and willing heart, God can miraculously work in your life.
Rev. Karen was born to a very traditional Filipino family, and thus brought up
in her country’s customary religion. In a community where born-again Christians
were mocked for their vocal profession of faith, selfless acts, and persistence
in sharing the gospel, her father, whom she remembers receiving Christ during
her early teenage years, never gave up on her and their family with the desire
to lead them all into the knowledge and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. For it is written, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you
and your household.” (Acts 16:31).
In 2001, God made a way for her to come to the United States in pursuit of the
great yet more often than not elusive American dream. Still God works in
mysterious ways, for more than all the treasures of the world, she found her
true self in the body of Christ and dedicated her life to the work of God. She
started as a singer in the worship team of Faith Restoration Center in Jersey
City, New Jersey. Afterwards, she organized and taught the tambourine dancing
ministry while handling also the children’s Sunday School. God further blessed
the work of her hands and entrusted her as drummer in the music ministry.
When the Community Bible Institute and Seminary of Brooklyn, New York opened its
New Jersey chapter in 2003, Rev. Karen saw this as an invitation to further
God’s calling in her life. With her love and dedication to her God-given tasks,
she was ordained as Evangelist that same year. She has been an inspiration to
many, young and old, great and small. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in
Theology in May 2006, she was ordained as Assistant Pastor at Faith Restoration
Center. On March 2007, God promoted her as one of the Pastors of the church. To
her, the promotion is a humbling experience, reminding her that it is “Not by
might nor by power, but by God’s Spirit” (Zechariah 4:6) that she is able to
serve with gladness in her heart.
Her fervent prayer is to accomplish what 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Do your best to
present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be
ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” And just as every worker
would love to hear from his master, she delights to hear these loving words from
her Father in heaven, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been
faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and
share your master's happiness.” (Matt. 25:21,23).
